Project Mali - Expedition 2008

"Project Mali 2006" has been an enormous succes. Because of this past succes, the preparations have been started for a new expedition in the year 2008.

Some of the last year participating Rotary Club's Rotarians will make a journey to Mali in November 2007. Participant of RC Eindhoven-Kempenland will be Arthur Slingerland. The goal of this visit will be to check the results of the 2006 expedition as well as the preparation for the (possible) expedition in the year 2008.

The 'Mali Projects' are not about food-aid, but most clearly they are about providing the means to transport people/patients, providing medical as well as educational material in the broad sense, clothing, watersupply and much more.

Important for existance and continuation of these beautiful projects is the support from the members (rotarians) within the participating Rotary clubs, the financial support from the sponsors as well as the support from the Rotary clubs themselves (fundraising) and, despite the romance of this beautiful journey, the effort of the participants regarding personal financial contribution, energy and (valuble) time.

Project Mali - Expedition 2006

'Project Mali' is a project in co-operation with Rotary Club Tienen (B) and is about support of medical, educational and social aid to the nomads living in the area (f.e. Toaregs). An example of our efforts is the aid to GP Annemarie-Salomon; the providing of 4x4 Toyota Jeeps, medical support etc.

This year, on the 24th October, 10 4x4 jeeps (Toyota and Suzuki) will be driven to Mali gereden, These 4x4s will be completly filled with farmaceutical drugs, medical equipment, cloths, educutional material Our team will be driving and delivering one of these Toyota Jeeps and will be carrying thousands of drugs (medical of course), T-shirts, notebooks, writing material..... The RC Eindhoven-Kempenland team consist of the following rotarians; Arthur Slingerland, Wiel Muijsers en John Hondebrink.
